PPRS is pleased to recognize Kerri A. Hoover as the winner of our 2021 scholarship. A rising junior at Lock Haven University, Hoover majors in Communication with an emphasis in Advertising and Public Relations and a minor in Business.
During her tenure at Lock Haven, Hoover has been active in several public relations-related roles. She currently serves as News Editor and Advertising/Design Manager for the Eagle Eye student newspaper, where she previously served as Sports Editor. She also supports the University’s Health Science Department website and social media activities. Off campus, Hoover is a volunteer station representative at RevFM Radio Network, a local non-profit Christian radio station based in State College.
In addition to her campus and volunteer activities, Hoover excels academically, making the dean’s list consistently since 2019. Hess has been awarded a 2021 Pennsylvania House of Representatives scholarship and is a member of the Rho Delta chapter of the Lambda Pi Eta National Communication Honor Society.
According to Jennifer L. Rudella, D.Ed., CHES, Associate Professor and Hoover’s supervisor at the University Health Science Department, Kerri “has been an exceptional student worker demonstrating responsibility, motivation, organization, strong interpersonal communication skills, and innovation.” Communication Professor Sharon B. Stringer, Ph.D. adds, “I truly respect Kerri’s willingness to take every opportunity to learn and practice her many talents outside the classroom.”
She has exhibited exceptional qualifications in the field of communications and public relations, demonstrating the academic excellence, experience, leadership, and character meriting this $1,000 scholarship award.
