It’s with a heavy heart that we share the news of the passing of Robert M. (Bob) Fisher, a long-time PPRS member and friend. Bob died on Jan. 2 at his home with his loving wife, Carol, and his family at his side.
Bob had been an active member of PPRS since 1968. Over 53 years he boisterously graced our PPRS meetings, welcoming many of us into the public relations fold, and leaving an indelible mark on the community through his work, his volunteerism, and his voice. Many of us remember Bob jokingly shouting out during table introductions, but he was also quick to give quiet praise or counsel and some of us were even lucky enough to hear his beautiful singing. He was the author of the PPRS newsletter, “Striking a Happy Medium,” for more than 25 years, keeping us abreast of the latest news among our members and friends in media and PR. He is also the namesake behind our annual Robert M. Fisher Membership Award, which we give to a deserving member each year in his honor.
Please take a moment to read this tribute to Bob that we presented to him this past summer after we learned that he had taken ill.
We encourage you to join us for a virtual cheers to Bob during our Jan. 21 meeting and watch your email for additional details from Barry Ciccocioppo regarding how you may offer condolences to the family as well as other arrangements.
Bob, you will always be a “stand-up” guy in our hearts, and you will be greatly missed!
