In the public relations sphere, collaborations can yield remarkable results. So when the producers of the TV show Master Chef and its host, Gordon Ramsey, wanted to film the show in the Ventura County, California, Fire Department Training Center, a new—and unexpected—opportunity for partnership struck.
Communications pros are always looking for the right message to reach their audience. Unless you work for a big organization with an equally large budget, some great ideas might never come to fruition unless you can find the right strategic partners. During this session, attendees will learn about aligning missions, identifying common ground, and having that “something” that can open the door to opportunities that might otherwise be impossible. This presentation will also show you how to make some magic happen.
Featured Speaker: Scott Thomsen is the director of communications and public affairs for the Ventura County, California, Fire Department, overseeing public information officers, community education, and community engagement. Scott has served various communication roles throughout his career, including as the director for Seattle City Light, a municipally owned electric utility. He had a 20-year journalism career as a newspaper editor and reporter, including with the Associated Press and Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. He is the immediate past president of the National Association of Government Communicators.
