A sold-out crowd of 50 public relations professionals came together on November 8 to honor Amy Hill, APR as the winner of the 2023 Ernest R. McDowell Award. The McDowell Award is given every year to a PPRS member who embodies the pillars of public relations by applying best practices to real-world scenarios. The organization honored Hill with the award at its annual meeting and Evening of Honors event at the Millworks in Harrisburg.
Amy has spent more than 25 years in various public relations leadership roles, most recently as Director of Community Engagement and Advocacy at the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank. She previously had served in Director of Communications roles for the Pennsylvania Catholic Conference and the County Commissioners Association of Pennsylvania. She is now principal of her own consulting firm, Hill Communications Strategies.
“Amy is the one in the meeting always advocating for the people in need in our community: the homeless, the hungry, the elderly, and the forgotten,” said Sean Connolly, APR, of Connolly Communications, LLC. “She is an effective advocate for her clients, creating strategies that rely on research and data to build campaigns and setting measurable objectives to show success.”
The event also ushered in the 2024 Leadership slate, as well as awarding the 2023 Robert M. Fisher Membership Award.
The event was made possible by sponsor support. Big thanks to our sponsors: Bravo Group, Graphtech, PRWorks and Roger That Photography!
