Photography always has been an important element in the practice of PR, and photos have become ubiquitous in today’s social media environment. The upside for PR pros? Companies turn to their PR departments when they need photos. The downside? Companies turn to their PR departments - even though the majority of people in the profession have little photography experience.
During this “working dinner” (bring your camera!), Roger Baumgarten - 19-year PPRS Member, 30-year media relations veteran, and owner of Roger That Photography since 2009 - will take you through the basics of shooting photos. He will provide you with useful tips - covering exposure, composition, and more - to help you think outside the green box (that setting on the camera dial that does all the thinking) and be more creative with your shoots.
For this interactive session, send a photo to firstname.lastname@example.org (Subject: PPRS Photos) that you’ve shot for your job, and Roger will provide feedback about the images. (Select photos will be reviewed at the meeting.)
PPRS BONUS OFFERING: Roger will provide a no-fee headshot session during registration/reception. Photos will be available online for purchase as digital downloads, prints, or photo gifts.
