When the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and subsequently the general public, became aware earlier this year that Shippensburg University had Plan B, also known as “the morning after pill,” easily available to students in an on-campus vending machine, reactions were mixed and fervent. Some are supportive of the ability to freely access the contraceptive, including students who are too embarrassed to purchase Plan B at more public locations like pharmacies. Others argue that the vending machine crosses the line of appropriate healthcare and deters students from seeing a medical professional. Join our esteemed speaker, Shippensburg University President Dr. William Ruud, as he discusses how Ship prepared for the controversy and how the university handled the ensuing media coverage and public response.
